Hawks Landing Golf Club in Verona, WI is one of the best golf courses that the Madison area has to offer. The course is located on the far West Side of Madison and it offers 18 holes of Championship play. The course is semi-private and offers numerous tee times for the public. Hawks Landing Golf course features bent grass tees, greens and fairways that offer four sets of tees to provide an enjoyable round golfers of all skill levels. My favorite feature of this course is that is was in incredible condition when we played it and even though it offers a great challenge it is still vary playable and a real joy to play. My favorite holes included the 18th which is a monster par 5 that plays uphill. The fairway features an old farm silo to the left and the green features a large waterfall structure that is a real sight to see. I also enjoyed the short par 4 15th which offers the opportunity to go for the green from the tee but requires you to carry a pond that sits in front of the green. The smart play is hit a long iron off the tee and play for birdie...but of course I went for the green...and ended up in the water. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my round at Hawks Landing Golf Club and will be back many more times. It is a beautiful course and is always in top condition. University Ridge Golf Course – Verona, WI

The University Ridge Golf Course is located in Verona, WI and is just several miles outside of Madison. University Ridge was rated 4 1/2 stars by Golf Digest Magazine and ranked 4th in "America's Best Daily Fee Courses in Wisconsin" by Golfweek Magazine. It has played host to numerous NCAA tournaments and is a top University golf course. University Ridge Golf Course was designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. There are four sets of tees that allow the course to be played from 5,005 yards all the way up to 6,888 yards. The course features Penncross bent grass fairways, Kentucky bluegrass roughs and is built beautifully around the land. With Wisconsin prairie grass and a spectacular rolling landscape, this course looks as great as is plays. Prices at University Ridge are around $80 for 18 holes with a cart and discounts are available for twilight rates and UW-Madison students. This is a must play course for anyone looking for a challenging and visually appealing golf course. The Meadows of Six Mile Creek in Waunakee, WI is a beautifully designed 18 hole championship golf course. It offers a challenging layout with numerous wetlands and ponds that come into play on 16 holes and is consistently is top shape. They now offer 5 different tee boxes to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. Greens fees range from $35 for 18 holes walking to $55 with a cart with discounts for early risers and twilight golfers. The Meadows of Six Mile Creek features bent grass tees, fairways and greens. It has narrow fairways and most greens are guarded by bunkers. The greens are large but play fast and feature many undulations. Control is key on this course and it is sure to provide a challenge to all golfers. The Meadows is located 10 miles from Madison, WI. The Bridges Golf course in Madison, WI is an 18 hole championship golf course. It is located next to the Dane County airport on Madison's east side. The Bridges offers a challenging layout with hazards on almost every hole. The course ranges from 4811 yards from the red tees up to 6888 yards from the black tees. The Bridges Golf Course received the Bronze medal in the Best Of Madison for 2007 golf courses. The Bridges offers beautiful scenery as you make your way around the course. The course requires great shot making on several holes with doglegs and hazards. The course is always in great condition with excellent greens. They offer GPS carts, have a full pro shop, a pro on staff and a restaurant and bar. They also do not have any dress code. The Bridges Golf Course is always a top favorite of Madison golfers due to it's reasonable price and great conditions.
